POST-IMPRESSION MAKEUP COLLECTION
Artist Collaboration by Erik Madigan Heck and Sam Addington
Evoking a painterly study of color inspired by the vibrant, abstract landscapes of the Hudson River Valley, photographer/filmmaker Erik Madigan Heck and New York-based makeup artist Sam Addington create a strikingly modern new collection for MAKE. From the lush depth in nature’s chromatic seasonal palette, Post-Impression depicts a more abstracted, contemporary sense of beauty.
Drawing from Impressionist inspiration, the landscape photographs utilize the artist’s last box of large format Polaroid 59 film. Heck heated and cooled the film to drastic temperatures, to create lush monochromatic colorscapes, which evoke not only Impressionist landscapes, but also reference the Color Field Painting movement of the 1940s and 1950s. Ms. Addington took the inspiration and created the resulting Post-Impression Palette and four collection looks, which were then photographed by Erik Madigan Heck for MAKE's campaign.
