2024 Makeup Trends We Are Excited To Try

In 2023, we saw many micro-beauty trends (Latte Makeup & Strawberry Girl Makeup) that called for experimentation with new color stories, new application techniques and a whole lot of fun. Now that it’s the new year, we expect to see micro-beauty trends spill into 2024 as well as a continued shift towards bold, colorful looks.

Prep Skin with a Minimalist Skincare Routine

Preparing your skin with the right skincare routine is one of the most important steps you can take to achieve a flawless finished look. While the 10 step skincare routine certainly has its place, we’re starting to see people do away with elaborate skincare, opting for holy-grail skincare staples your skin really needs instead.

We recommend starting with a gentle cleanser such as the Succulent Skin Wash, our serum weight, pH-balanced gel cleanser. Supercharged with rich surfactants that preserve the skin barrier, Succulent Skin Wash purifies, balances and softens skin while niacinamide and sodium hyaluronate provide additional skin tone benefits. Next, we turn to Succulent Skin Gel Cream, our serum weight moisturizer that hydrates, visually plumps and soothes. Thanks to its host of skin-loving ingredients like Aloe Vera, Niacinamide and Glycerin that soften and condition the skin, Succulent Skin Gel Cream replenishes without feeling heavy, making it the perfect moisturizer to wear underneath makeup. If you like a little extra hydration, or feel like your skin is dehydrated, Hydrascape Reverse Emulsion is a must. With our custom blend of nourishing emollients and antioxidants, this water-in-oil emulsion is formulated to lock in moisture, help prevent water loss, and protect the skin’s moisture barrier. Finally, complete your skincare routine with our Orbital Balm Smoothing Eye Treatment. Formulated with skin-brightening antioxidants and hydrating emollients, Orbital Balm helps fortify the delicate eye area, delivering long-lasting moisture and visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Radiant Complexion

While the “Glazed Skin” trend has dominated the beauty industry for the past couple of years, the trend has evolved to a finish that is a little less ‘glazed,’ and a little more velvety. To achieve this look, we recommend using 1-2 pumps of Diffusion Dew Radiant Skin Tint. This skin tint features skin-mimicking pigments that add radiant coverage while blurring, smoothing and brightening your complexion. Sheer yet buildable, this lightweight product is formulated with niacinamide and adenosine to enhance skin for a healthy-looking glow. Next apply Skin Mimetic Radiant Buildable Concealer in the areas you want a little bit more coverage (think under the eyes, dark spots and blemishes). This medium-coverage concealer blends seamlessly into the skin for a finish that sets a new standard for weightless and ‘skin-like’ complexion products. Finally, set your look with Diffusion Set Translucent Setting Powder, targeting your eyes, t-zone, chin and forehead to prevent creasing and looking overly dewy.

Bold Blush

We predict the bold blush trend will continue through 2024. With so many ways to create your blush look, whether it’s applying onto the temples a la Carrie Barber or across the bridge of the nose for a sunkissed look, we’re excited to experiment! For this, we recommend exploring our shade range of Skin Mimetic Microsuede Blush, a refillable, ultra smooth, microsuede blush that feels lightweight and melds into the skin for comfortable wear and big payoff. This powder blush is perfect if you prefer a more matte look. For a more dewy cheek, you can’t go wrong with our best-selling Heat Stroke Dewy Gel Cheek Tint, formulated with skin enhancing pigments that create a dewy, watercolor-blush effect.

Graphic Eyeliner

From graphic lines to geometric shapes, we’re thrilled to see people experimenting with bold and creative eyeliner looks and think this trend is just beginning. Our Continuum Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, a creamy, highly-pigmented pencil, comes in 12 smudge-free shades perfect for achieving a graphic eyeliner look. With classics (black and brown), jewel tones (purples, blues, greens), and a variety of universal neutrals (light pink and champagne), you simply can’t go wrong. To use, place the eyeliner where you want it and use the built-in brush to craft and define your desired shape. For a more diffused smokey eye, simply blend.

Sheer Lip Colors

2024 marks a move away from matte lipsticks and towards glossy, sheer lip finishes. To achieve a glossy, sheer lip, dab a light layer of Cream Supreme High Impact Lipstick in your shade of choice to the center of your lips. Using your finger, blend pigment to cover your entire lip, and top with the Serum Balm Hydrating Lip Treatment.

    Summer Skincare Routine

Some might say summer is the season of indulgence. Longer days, warmer weather, and Summer Fridays are all reasons to celebrate. However, when it comes to summer skincare, less is more. During this time of year, we adopt a streamlined approach to taking care of our skin and addressing summer skin concerns like dehydration, clogged pores, and sensitivity.

Get The Look: Boyfriend Blush Trend

The “boyfriend blush” application is a natural flush of color that sits lower on the cheek. It’s fresh, natural and meant to look as if you’ve just been outside for a brisk walk. It’s also flattering on everyone because you’re recreating a look that naturally occurs in your complexion. I can hear all my Rosacea girls now…’But I have spent years covering up my rosacea’ or ‘I avoid any and all blush trends that involve red/pink tones.’ Well…this may be the blush trend for you.
